One of the most important parts of your website is something most people never see.

Let’s talk about website hosting (because it matters more than you think)

If your website feels slow, unreliable, or you’ve had random issues pop up with no clear reason — your hosting could be the problem.

Hosting is what keeps your website online. It affects how fast your site loads, how secure it is, and how reliable it feels to your visitors. And when hosting isn’t right, even the best-designed website can struggle.

Good hosting means:
⚡ Faster loading times
🔒 Better security and protection
📈 Improved SEO performance
🛠️ Fewer crashes and technical issues
😊 A smoother experience for your visitors

This is one of those “behind-the-scenes” decisions that’s easy to overlook, but it has a huge impact on how professional your business appears online.

If you’re serious about your website doing its job — bringing in enquiries, building trust, and supporting your business — reliable hosting isn’t optional.

And if you’re thinking “I have no idea if my hosting is any good” — you’re not alone.
I help small businesses choose, set up, and manage hosting properly, so you don’t have to worry about the technical side at all.

When your hosting is right, everything else works better

What's more frustrating to you: a slow website or one that won't load at all?

🔒 Let’s talk about SSL (and why your website really needs it)

If you already have a website or you’re planning one, you may have seen the little padlock icon in your browser bar. That padlock comes from something called SSL.

SSL is what keeps the information on your website secure. It encrypts data so things like contact forms, logins, and payment details can’t be intercepted.

Here’s why SSL matters more than most people realise:

🔐 Builds trust with your visitors
People are far more likely to stay on (and interact with) a website that feels safe. No padlock? That’s an instant red flag for many users.

🔍 Google prefers secure websites
SSL is a ranking factor, which means secure websites have an advantage when it comes to SEO and visibility.

📝 Protects your forms and data
Even simple contact forms collect information that should be protected — SSL helps keep that data safe.

The good news? SSL isn’t complicated, and most modern platforms support it. The tricky part is knowing whether it’s set up properly and working as it should.

If you’re unsure whether your website is fully secure, or you’ve seen warnings popping up, I’m always happy to take a look and explain things in plain English.

What's the biggest thing that helps you trust a website?

Let’s talk about domains (the address of your website)

If you’ve ever wondered “Where do I even start with a website?” Your domain name is usually the very first step.

Your domain is your website’s home on the internet. It’s what people type into their browser to find you, and it plays a bigger role than most people realise. It is like a street address for your website.

A good domain name should be:
✨ Easy to remember
✨ Simple to spell and pronounce
✨ Clear and relevant to your business
✨ Professional and trustworthy

Your domain becomes part of your identity as it appears on your website, email addresses, business cards, social media profiles and marketing materials.

This tiny piece of tech often gets rushed, but choosing the right domain sets the foundation for everything else, your website, your emails, even how people perceive your brand.

If you’re at the early stages of building (or rebuilding) your website, understanding domains early on can save you a lot of confusion later.

And don’t worry — you don’t need to be “techy” to get this right. Once you know the basics, it’s actually very straightforward.

How did you come up with your business name and website address?

Let’s talk about app integrations (because your website shouldn’t work alone)

If your website feels disconnected from the rest of your business, your emails, bookings, payments, or customer systems — then app integrations are likely what’s missing.

Modern website platforms can connect seamlessly with the tools you already use, such as:
📩 Email marketing platforms
📅 Booking and calendar systems
💳 Payment gateways
📊 Analytics and reporting tools
🧾 Invoicing and CRM systems

When app integrations are set up properly, your website becomes a central hub that works behind the scenes to save you time, reduce manual tasks, and keep everything running smoothly.

This is where many businesses hit a wall. The platform can integrate, but knowing what to connect, how to connect it, and how to make it work efficiently is the real skill.

If you’re at the stage where you want your website to do more than just “look nice” and actually support how you run your business day to day then app integrations are a game changer.

And if you’re thinking “I want this, but I don’t want to break anything”, that’s exactly what I’m here for.
I help businesses choose the right platform, connect the right tools, and set everything up so it just works.

When your website and your systems talk to each other properly, everything gets easier.

If your website could automate one task for you, what would it be?

Let’s talk about SEO tools (and why they matter more than you think)

If you already have a website but you’re wondering why it’s not being found, the answer often sits quietly in the background, SEO tools.

Most website platforms now come with built-in SEO features, but many business owners either don’t know they exist or aren’t sure how to use them properly.

Good SEO tools help you:
✨ Edit page titles and descriptions
✨ Optimise headings and content
✨ Improve page speed and performance
✨ Make your website easier for Google to understand
✨ Track what’s working (and what isn’t)

The platform you choose plays a big role here. Some platforms give you full control over SEO settings, while others keep things fairly basic. Neither is wrong, it just depends on your goals and how visible you want your website to be.

This is where a lot of small businesses get stuck. They’ve invested in a website, but they’re not getting the results they expected because the SEO tools aren’t being used properly, if at all.

If you’re not sure whether your website’s SEO tools are helping or holding you back, I’m always happy to take a look and explain things in plain English.

Sometimes it’s not about rebuilding, it’s about using what you already have the right way.

Thinking About Wix for Your Website? Here’s What You Should Know!

If you’ve been exploring website platforms, you’ve probably come across Wix and for good reason! It’s a popular choice for small businesses who want something simple, visual, and quick to get up and running.

But before you dive in, here’s a little friendly insight to help you decide whether Wix is the right fit for your business…

What makes Wix appealing?

It’s super beginner-friendly, no coding needed

Drag-and-drop design means you can create layouts visually

Lots of templates to choose from

Great for small service businesses, portfolios, and simple sites

But… there are a few things to keep in mind:

Customisation has limits compared to platforms like WordPress

SEO tools are improving but still not as strong

As your business grows, you may outgrow the platform

Moving away from Wix later can be tricky

Wix can be a brilliant starting point if it aligns with your business goals and the type of website you need.

If you’re not sure whether Wix is right for you — or if another platform would suit your business better — I’m always here to guide you.

Choosing the right platform now saves so many headaches later on.

Let’s talk about one of the simplest ways to increase enquiries from your website.
Make your phone number easy to find.

It sounds like such a small detail, but it’s often the one thing standing between a potential client and that moment where they reach out.

So, why your phone number matters so much:

Some people prefer speaking to a real person

It builds instant trust and reassurance

It removes hesitation (the biggest conversion killer!)

It makes your business feel open, approachable, and ready to help

And here’s the key…
Your phone number shouldn’t be hidden in tiny text or buried on one page.
It needs to be clear, clickable on mobile and easy to spot in your header, footer, or contact page

When someone is already thinking about working with you, the last thing you want is for them to struggle to get in touch.

A visible phone number can be the difference between someone contacting you… and someone giving up.

This is exactly the kind of small, but mighty improvement I make for clients all the time. Tiny tweaks that lead to real results.

Sometimes a 2-minute fix can make a world of difference.

When you're ready to contact a business, what's your first choice: phone, email, or a contact form?
