You’re proud beyond words. You know this is the goal, to raise kids who are ready for the world. And yet, it still hits you like a wave you didn’t see coming. Not sadness exactly. Just… a kind of ache. A letting go no one quite prepares you for.

So here we are... learning again.
Learning to trust the foundation we gave them.
Learning to redefine who we are without the everyday “Mum, what's for dinner?” or “Dad, can you give me a lift?”

We raised them to be empowered. Now it’s our turn to empower ourselves in this new chapter,
to embrace the space we created in their lives and in ours. Today, I'm feeling all of it... the pride, the joy, the ache, the adjustment. Because parenting doesn't end when they leave home. It just evolves and so do we.

The past 7 days have been exhausting in every way, 2 full days of which were roadtrips and only 5 full days with Mr.D but I wouldn’t trade it for this cuddle. A trip I dreaded, but one I truly needed.

After more than 12 hours of being on the road... Im back in sunny St Neots. I never thought I'd say this but England, you're so hot and sunny! 😂 Scotland, you've been lovely but cold. And grey! 🤣

To Abby, Against All Odds

We’re a walking contradiction,
A friendship that should be friction,
Built on chaos and questionable choices,
Two very loud, opinionated voices.

We’ve zig-zagged through disasters (some we started),
And survived every impulsive escapade.
Normal people might have quit -
But here we are, still in this… whatever it is.

You put up with me (a true Olympic sport),
I tolerate you… in my own loving sort.
We’ve laughed at nonsense until we cried,
And occasionally done things that could have got us denied… entry… anywhere.

So here’s to the madness we somehow maintain,
To the questionable plans we’ll hatch again.

At the start of summer break, I was so apprehensive. Hubby being away all of August meant I’d have to slow right down with work, put projects and gigs on pause, and be in full-on mum mode.

I wasn’t sure how I’d manage it all — the juggling, the quiet, the shift in pace.

But here we are at the end of week two, having a spontaneous car boot picnic after the food shop, with Tom’s favourite Greggs sausage roll and a gingerbread man in hand.

The sun is out, he’s smiling, and I’m reminded that maybe slowing down isn’t such a bad thing after all.

All is well.❤️

July was a gentle reset. Self-awareness. Clarity. Realignment. Ending. Beginning. Regrouping. Taking a moment to be grateful. Catching up. Embracing new. Soft shifts. Soul stuff, lots of it. Slowing down to savour the small things; sunlight on skin, train spotting with wide eyes, new memories made quietly, but deeply... and knowing who'll sit with you in the stillness at the corner.
