I've been editing Sam's TED Talk for Inspire 2 Ignite so much this week that apparently Tom has memorised parts of it.
Sam's talk includes this powerful line:
"In the UK, over a million young people are economically inactive. It's considered a crisis. But what are we really doing about it? These aren't just statistics. These are our young people."
A serious point. An important message.
Fast forward to today.
Tom is explaining a playground disagreement with all the gravitas of a TED speaker.
Me: "Tom, it's just a toy."
Tom: "No, Mummy. These aren't just toys. These are OUR toys."
I nearly fell over laughing.
After hearing me replay Sam's talk approximately 7,000 times while editing, Tom has started delivering everyday observations like he's addressing government ministers and industry leaders.
At this point, I expect him to walk into Year 3, click a presentation remote and ask his classmates:
"But what are we really doing about snack time?"
The power of repetition is real.
Keep on keeping on
