From Stafford in the West Midlands, Jay aka B3 comes from a mixed background of classical orchestral music, early electronic production and a love of all forms of live and electronic performance. Jay first encountered MIDI sequencing at age 6, when computer music was still in its infancy and DOS was the primary operating system. This cemented a love for digita
l production that has never left. His modern production software arsenal includes FL21, Ableton 11 and Reason ,as well as several high-end plugins such as Omnisphere and Spire. Classical training instilled a deep root of sweeping layers, which has firmly embedded itself as the corner-stone of production which resonates through all the music he makes. Knowledge gained from festival and open mic gigs sees him seamlessly integrating tried-and-tested methods like CD and Vinyl with more modern approaches, such as Ableton Live PA sets. His live set style typically tends to gravitate towards the more psychadelic end of hard trance, with some deep and hard euphoric classics thrown in for good measure. Crowd whistles before 10pm have definitely not been missed. Close involvement behind the scenes with both Anomaly events and another brand from the same family of creatives called Psychonauts, as well as numerous sets performed for both, a collaborative release on Nocturnal Knights with close friend Everlight, and a range of music production skills learned at diploma-level with Stafford College, round out an already formidable knowledge of music making and performance in an up-and-coming artist that you want to watch.
