All my life Iāve felt different.
For 32 years Iāve bitten and picked my nails and the skin around my fingers⦠and Iām still trying to stop AGAIN⦠Anyone else with ADHD do this?!
Iāve struggled to maintain friendships, been a people pleaser, incredibly emotional, struggled with anger and constantly interrupted people because if I donāt say what Iām thinking straight away⦠Iāll forget it š
At school I couldnāt concentrate. I remember sitting my History GCSE while everyone else was writing and I was just staring around the room, watching the clock. I got a U. š
Some days I have SO much energy and can do a million things, other days Iām mentally drained and just want to sleep.
I talk A LOT, overshare š and housework can feel impossible. Washing can sit there for days⦠until I suddenly hyperfocus and get everything done in one go!
And thatās only a tiny part of it.
For years I thought I was lazy, too emotional, disorganised, difficult or simply needed to try harder.
But there was never anything wrong with me.
My brain just works differently.
Since starting my business, and especially since being diagnosed, Iāve become so much kinder to myself. I donāt feel the need to people please or pretend everything is perfect anymore.
My house doesnāt have to be immaculate. I donāt have to have it all figured out. I donāt have to do life the way everyone else does.
And thatās okay.
I can still have the life Iāve always dreamed of, even if I take a different route to get there. Iāll never give up.
Because as long as Iām happy, my boys and Ben are happy, and weāre healthy⦠thatās what really matters.
Maybe Iām not ātoo muchā.
Maybe I just spent 33 years trying to fit into a world that wasnāt designed for my brain.
If youāve spent years wondering what is āwrongā with you too, please know youāre not alone. āØš¤
