Tune in on Saturday at 10am or again at 5pm to hear "In conversation With David Mason" in which DH9 Radio's Bryan Irving interviews the local fundraiser David Mason about his work with various charities and his campaign to raise funds for the replacement of the children's playground recently subjected to an arson attack in South Moor Park.

David talks openly and frankly about the impact of the attack on the local community and his efforts to help as well as how locals can support the project.

As many of you know, the children's play area in South Moor Memorial Park was the target of an Arson attack recently. Well, a dedicated group of residents is trying to raise the funds to rebuild it.

Happy New Year to you all from all of us at DH9 Radio!

May 2025 bring you health, wealth and happiness.

As 2024 draws to a close we are looking back on the year and what it has meant for DH9 Radio.

We have won several awards for what we do and have seen a number of changes at the station. The appointment of a brand new volunteer deputy manager has helped to spread the workload and made us more efficient.

Several new shows have been launched, and pilots have been tested. Many of these pilots will be developed into fully fledged shows next year.

We have expanded our appeal to younger listeners while being careful not to forget our older listeners and we have developed a number of shows that use a multiple-host format which has proven to be very popular with the listeners.

Multiple host formats allow for more banter between the hosts and develop a more engaging atmosphere.

We have strengthened our ties with local educational facilities and provide work experience to young people seeking to work in music or media and we intend to continue this outreach into 2025.

As ever our team of volunteers have been great and continue to provide increasingly high-quality content for little to no cost.

Perhaps the biggest change is that we have bid farewell to our old server and control pannel which are being decommissioned by our broadcast service provider Citrus 3.

The old system has been with us since our launch in 2019 but has become increasingly unreliable and prone to technical failures so Citrus 3 have decided to decommission both the server and the software and migrate us to a new server with an all-new software suite to help us continue to deliver quality broadcast content.

Looking forward to 2025 we will be developing several new shows and we will be reducing our reliance on repeats. We have a number of new presenters joining us and we look forward to looking forward to recruiting more volunteer presenters.

We hope to refresh some of the hardware in the studio as technology has come a long way since we set up the studio in 2019 and we look forward to improving our already good sound quality for your enjoyment.

The much-loved talk show "Illuminerdy" will be returning in 2025 with several new "illuminerds" for our panel.
The talk show which discusses SCi-Fi, Comics, Cosplay, Gaming and all things nerdy will be returning for its 9th series! If you would like to be included as a guest panellist or would like to suggest a topic for the Illuminerds to discuss, email us at [email protected] and include the term "Illuminerdy" in the subject line.

We hope to be increasing the use of the DH9 Radio chat room in 2015 too. the chat room provides an extra way for listeners and presenters to connect and helps build a community of radio and podcast lovers.

Schedule Shakeup!

This November (2024) the DH9 Radio Schedule will be undergoing a bit of a shake-up.

Don't worry, your favourite shows aren't going away but some of them may be moving from their old slots to new ones.

Most shows that currently air on A Monday before 6pm will be moving to later in the week, to give us time to use Monday mornings and early afternoons for scheduled maintenance and to plug holes in our schedule on other days, holes that are currently filled by the Auto DJ.

We aim to reduce the number of times in a week that presented shows hand off to the auto DJ and vier verser.

Shows that currently air during weekdays may be moving in phases, again in order to reduce the number of instances where presented shows hand off to the auto DJ for an hour or two then the auto DJ hands off to presented shows.

Since presented shows have by far a larger listening base, it makes sense for us to try to keep people listening from show to show rather than have them drop out during an auto DJ slot and miss a show that might have been of interest to them.

Think of it as "defragging" our schedule more than anything.

The schedule changes will happen over 3 phases, so keep an eye on the schedule page at dh9radio.com and on this FB page for news on what will change then.

You can either take a regular slot or, if you are unsure, why not do a one-off show as part of our "Your Hour" series, where members of the community may take to the air for an hour with the help of one of our trained presenters/producers? If you like it yo can always do it again or take a regular slot.

Training for regular slots can be given.
