🍻 It all started with a pint at a wedding… and now they’re supplying thousands of suits across the UK.

Stephen Dial and Stuart Brand didn’t plan to become tailoring entrepreneurs. One was a teacher, the other a football coach. But a disappointing suit-shopping experience turned into a bold idea—and from there, Charles Grey Menswear was born.

📍 Based in Stanley, these two local lads went from a small shop in Hexham to running one of the region’s fastest-growing menswear wholesalers. With backing from BEF North East and support from names like Kieran Trippier and Middlesbrough F.C., their journey is just getting started.

This is more than a business success story—it’s a celebration of local ambition, North East pride, and what can happen when opportunity meets action.

👔 From the classroom to the catwalk of British menswear, meet the team putting Stanley on the fashion map.

Stanley as we know it was shaped underground. Miners from West Stanley, South Moor, Annfield Plain, Tanfield Lea and beyond carved out a shared life above ground, streets, shops, chapels, Co-ops, and welfare halls filled with concerts, cinema shows and sports.

Tragedy struck more than once, from the 1882 and 1909 West Stanley explosions to the loss at Louisa Colliery, but the community stood firm. Nearly every family was touched, yet the town rebuilt itself each time with extraordinary resilience and pride.
