Well I knew it was a hot topic. But I am pleased so many people are trying to understand how much any kind of othering of people is so wrong.

To the others, unshakeable in their belief that everyone is a ‘fighting age man’ .. what is that a ‘working age man’ or a person between 18-50??.. how did we arrive at that phrase if not scaremongering with no proof.. I see your too entrenched in your desire to demonise. Never in our community or society have we deemed one act of criminality to be aligned with one colour or one religion of people. I’m a white straight non religious male.. but I’m not the same as Fred West, Jimmy Savile or with many charges of violence or fraud like Tommy Robinson.

Ten years I’ve worked in this community. And I’ve seen consecutive governments rip apart our public services, force people into food banks.. I’ve seen carers cut from old people, disabled people have their benefits slashed, our SEN schools have their budgets collapsed, no council house builds and wages plummet to zero hours contracts replacing decent working pay and conditions. And now, finally, we have something to blame. Not consecutive governments policy of allowing billionaires not to pay tax, not cruel inefficient politicians looking to make savings at pensioners fuel allowance so we can keep more jets in the air to support a genocide, not a Brexit that costs the country billions every year and played havoc with our border control and terms of dealing with migrants, not any of those things.

I remember when the EU was to blame for our increasing poverty in the UK. That not materialising it’s now asylum seekers. And it’s the same people again.. not worthy of our trust .. telling you again who to hate and who to fear.. and to some.. these finger points are so much more palatable than a look at who is really causing these hardships.

In 1930s Germany, a battered impoverished population was convinced that the reason for their government sponsored hardship .. was an ethnic group. Look how that ended.. and when the next government is formed by the arch enemy of community masquerading as the white British champion .. just watch how far this nightmare can go.

I’ll continue to work hard for this community.. whatever colour or religion people are .. because that friends is the nature of community. The world isn’t 1950s Hampstead anymore. It’s changed. Wars and climate change are going to change it some more too. We can’t look back to then or even last week .. we have to face now.. and if we’ve even got one chance of a decent society we are going to have to accept that it’s our governments failing us .. not some rag tag p**s poor people on boats who are happy for them to come here knowing the blame can be sent elsewhere not at their door.
I implore you not to fall for it. Hatred is easy .. a long painful reckoning with uncomfortable truths is not so.
