Taking place until Sunday 21st December, a special photographic exhibition has been organised at the Hayloft Gallery of historic Paxton House which you won't want to miss. Featuring the photography of James Herriot, Ollie Cowgill and Ronnie Hek, this remarkable exhibition is inspired by the imagery which appears in James's recently-published travelogue of the beautiful River Tweed, the "Tweed Trail Challenge". The exhibition is in aid of Benchmark at Grinham's Wood, a local community charity initiative based in North Northumberland.

We'd like to thank all of the organisers of recent Christmas events featuring Extremis Publishing, for going above and beyond to bring a bit of festive spirit to proceedings! Our appreciation firstly to Stirling Heritage Alliance and Chair David Black, General Manager Tracey Macintosh, and Events Manager Isobel Stewart for their kind hospitality in hosting Dr Tom Christie's Christmas lecture at Legends at the Monument on Thursday 4th December. We're also grateful to Dundee Libraries Events and Information Officer Neil Paterson for overseeing Tom's Christmas movie presentation at Dundee Central Library on Friday 5th December. And last but certainly not least, many thanks to Engagement Officer Paul Campbell of Dundee's famous The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery & Museum for all of his help during the annual McManus Christmas market on Saturday 6th December, where we met so many fantastic people throughout the day. We're really grateful to everyone for helping to make these events so memorable, and bringing so much seasonal good cheer!

"Lights, Camera, Dundee!" features in today's online edition of The Courier UK, and will also be spotlighted in tomorrow's issue of the paper. Past times editor Graeme Strachan explores some of the film and TV classics which appear in the book, and interviews authors Tom and Julie Christie about what was involved in the writing process. With many unexpected insights into location filming around the city, the article takes a look into what makes Dundee such a fantastic and unique place to make movies and TV shows.

The indefatigable Neil Hallam's 500RH will be spreading some literary joy and good cheer this festive season, with appearances at a number of Christmas markets around England. On Saturday 29th November, he'll be at the famous Christmas Market at Thornbridge Hall taking place at Bakewell, Derbyshire, at Thornbridge Hall, Baslow Road, Ashford-in-the-Water, DE45 1NZ, from 10am-4pm. Then, on Sunday 30th November, he will be attending the Christmas Market at the Creswell Events Centre Craft Fair at Elmton Road, Creswell, Worksop, S80 4BH from 10am-3pm. And from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th December, Neil will be at the Christmas Market at Denby Pottery, at Denby Pottery Village, Derby Road, Denby, DE5 8NX, with opening hours of 9am-5pm from Thursday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.

These events will provide an excellent opportunity to meet Neil, purchase his wide range of books, and chat with him about his work. Dr Tom Christie has been invited to give a Christmas lecture about his book "A Seriously Groovy Movie Christmas" - an entertaining account of the festive cinema of the 1960s and 1970s. Tom is the author of a four-volume history of Christmas cinema in the twentieth century (2016-2024), which spans the 1940s to the 1990s. This illustrated presentation will be taking place at King Street Aparthotel, 45 King Street, Stirling on Friday 12th December at 2pm, with all proceeds from tickets going directly to forthgiving - a local philanthropic charity supporting people living in crisis throughout the Forth Valley area. Forth Valley Sensory Centre will soon be holding their big event of the year! The FVSC Winter Fayre takes place on Friday 28th November between 11am and 2pm, and everyone is welcome to come and join the Christmas fun at the Centre. They will have stalls from local businesses in attendance to sell some top notch Christmas gifts, and will also have stalls selling products handmade by Centre Users. The Sensory Singers choir will be performing live at mid-day, and they will also have a bake sale, hot chocolate decorating station, Christmas crafts and much more!
Also, from today, tickets will be available from FVSC for their Winter Hamper Raffle. You can buy tickets within the Centre, with the draw taking place on Saturday 14th December. Not long now until Tom and Julie Christie will be taking part in special book events in Dundee to celebrate the release of their new book "Lights, Camera, Dundee!"
​On Friday 21st November, there will be a presentation about the book for Book Week Scotland at Dundee Central Library, Wellgate Shopping Centre, Dundee, DD1 1DB, from 2:30pm. Come along to find out more about the films and TV series that shaped the book.
