I’ve been baking professionally 14 years here’s what to buy and not buy from your local Sainsbo

🩷Love their raspberry jam - especially over strawberry!
🩷Don’t buy pre sifted flour (I don’t even sift the over stuff!)
🩷Don’t buy plastic nozzles, metal ones are the same price and much better
🩷Love their cocoa powder

Viral dot cakes but make it JELLY 🍓

Everyone’s raving about these dot cakes so I had to try my own twist.

Pre-made strawberry jelly set in little pots, then topped with buttercream and sprinkles. Actually delicious. Very sweet. But totally worth it.

Allergen Labels Explained: What You ACTUALLY Need (Part 1) 🏷️

Natasha’s Law changed everything for home bakers. But what labels you need depends on HOW you’re selling 👇

PRE-PACKAGED (markets, shops, no customer contact): Full label required:
🏷️ Product name
🏷️ Full ingredients list (descending order by weight)
🏷️ Allergens in BOLD
🏷️ Business name & address
🏷️ Best before/use by date

PRE-ORDERED (custom orders, direct to customer): You can use a simpler system:
✅ 14 allergen tick list sticker
✅ “Eat within” date
✅ “May contain” warning (e.g. “Made in a kitchen that handles nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten”)

The key difference?
Pre-packaged = full label, no conversation
Pre-ordered = you’ve spoken directly to the customer

ALWAYS ask at booking: “Do you have any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements I need to know about?”

Document their answer. Every. Single. Time. 📋

I made this cake three months ago and only just found it 😅

I don’t use my baking kitchen much anymore, and it was hiding in the fridge I barely open. Don’t worry — I don’t make cakes for the public these days. This was never going out to anyone.

BUT… if you’ve ever worried about making a cake “too early” — look at this thing. Three months old and it still looked okay 👀 (I wouldn’t eat it, obviously)

So please stop stressing about making your cake the day before. A properly stored cake stays fresh for DAYS. I always used to make mine about 5 days ahead and they were absolutely fine.
