Tees Barrage Bridge in Stockton-on-Tees — a cinematic night drone reel filmed in 4K with the DJI Mini 5 Pro.
Opened to public in 1995, the Tees Barrage was created to control tidal flow, prevent flooding and keep the river upstream at a constant level — turning a once industrial tidal channel into a smooth stretch for recreation, rowing and watersports.
Interesting facts most people don’t know:
• The barrage forms part of a wider complex that can move up to 14 m³ of water per second through the white-water course when active.
• It includes fish passages and a navigation lock, helping salmon and sea-trout migrate upriver — monitored by live fish-count systems.
• Adjusted operating cycles in recent years have increased “fish-pass hours,” improving upstream movement for returning salmon.
Anyways, one of my favourite walks around the river.
