1952 Gordon Griffiths Sunbeam-Porsche Special 1300cc 💙🇬🇧💙

The 1952 Gordon Griffiths Sunbeam-Porsche Special 1300cc is a one-of-a-kind custom motorcycle built by motorcycle enthusiast and engineer Gordon Griffiths. Dissatisfied with the performance of his Sunbeam S8, Griffiths fitted a Porsche flat-four car engine into a modified Sunbeam frame, resulting in a unique machine sought after by collectors. The project began around 1969 when Gordon Griffiths started with a c.1952 Sunbeam S8 motorcycle with frame number S8-5250. He was an experienced constructor of "special" motorcycles and sought more power than the standard S8 engine could provide.According to auction records, the first engine installed was a 1200cc Volkswagen unit. Porsche upgrade: Seeking even more power, Griffiths later upgraded the bike to a more powerful 1955 Porsche 'A-Series' engine. This engine was a 1300cc unit, though at some point, the official V5C registration mistakenly listed the capacity as 990cc.
