Last chance to WIN Grub's bowline boots

Constantly damp grass, muddy trails, wet coastal strolls, and puddles big enough to resemble a lake, the British weather can throw just about everything at you. That’s why you need a rugged boot that can handle it all, such as the Grubs Bowline 5.0.

Like a proper British Wellington, the Bowline is genuinely all-day waterproof and revels in mud like a pig. But it’s also not just your ordinary wellie. With insulation, a moisture-wicking liner, excellent grip, and an ankle-length fit, it combines practicality and comfort in a way that’s perfectly suited for British adventures.

What if we told you the best weekend adventure in the Brecon Beacons isn’t Pen y Fan and that you can experience soaring peaks, waterfall-filled valleys, and glacial lakes all in just two days?

Most people head straight to Pen y Fan when they visit the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog). And sure, it’s a great hike. But to really show off what makes this national park special, we reckon you can go one better: mountain ridgelines, views that stretch all the way to the sea, hidden forests that feel lifted from folklore, and staircases of waterfalls carving through the landscape.

That’s why we’ve put together an itinerary for discovering the very best of the Brecon Beacons in just one relaxed weekend. Drive up after work on Friday, spend Saturday and Sunday morning exploring some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country, and still make it home Sunday evening refreshed, recharged, and ready for the week.

To make it even easier, we’ve teamed up with Escapade 4×4, turning our wheels into mobile glamping basecamps with their brilliant range of roof tents. They’ve currently got an end-of-summer sale running, so now’s the perfect time to take a look.

You don't need to be an elite athlete to enjoy this experience; it's designed for everyone. Click the link below to learn more: https://www.wiredforadventure.com/the-best-hiking-and-scrambling-in-the-brecon-beacons/

There’s something special about hiking 20 miles through the mountains, rolling into the evening, and knowing you don’t have to pitch a tent or cook a meal, just arrive at a hut, kick off your boots, and tuck into a warm plate of local food. That’s the beauty of hut-to-hut hiking. It’s freedom without the faff, lighter packs, and the comfort of a roof over your head after a long day on the trail.

From the flower-filled meadows of the French Alps to the rugged ridgelines of Japan’s Northern Alps, these routes link a chain of remote mountain refuges, each one offering a place to rest, refuel, and share stories with fellow hikers.

High up in the Bernese Oberland, just an hour away from the Swiss capital of Bern, lie secluded mountain valleys, many of which were only connected by road in the 19th century. It’s here, in the region of Adelboden, Lenk, and Kandersteg, where small villages continue the traditional pace of Swiss life: the pleasure of a meal shared between friends, an appreciation for the beauty brought by each season. And up in the Alps, each season is experienced at its fullest.

There’s perhaps no better time to discover this slice of pure Swissness than in winter. The roaring waterfalls of summer freeze over, creating cascades captured in time, while the evergreen forests suspend canopies of snow. It’s as if the peacefulness has been cranked up to eleven.

Since the villages existed here long before the top-class ski and hiking infrastructure, they preserve genuine traditional alpine culture for you to discover. By day, you can explore by ski, snowshoe, or on foot through a land of living folklore, while by night, you can unwind in a wellness centre, enjoy home-style Swiss food, and participate in cultural events that have a history all of their own.

Roof tents have had a surge in popularity in recent years, transforming from a niche product for overlanders with kitted-out 4x4s into an accessible tool for people to spend more time outdoors. They’re easy to use and provide a spacious, comfortable, and secure shelter in minutes, and if your previous camping experiences consist of damp, cramped tents that fall apart in the middle of the night, you can certainly see the appeal.

We’ve experienced this firsthand recently as we’ve been testing a few different models of roof tents. Whether we’ve been talking to designers and manufacturers or people at campsites, there’s a certain sense of camaraderie that’s always friendly and welcoming.

Roof tent companies like Latitude Tents offer road trips, meet-ups, and campouts that you can join, where you can hike and explore by day and swap stories around the campfire by night. So, if you’ve been considering owning a roof tent, or would like to do more camping but you’re sick of sleeping on the ground, here are five reasons why you should consider one: https://www.wiredforadventure.com/why-you-should-consider-joining-the-roof-tent-community/

Ever wondered what it really takes to start rock climbing outdoors or how to make the jump from bouldering to lead climbing?

We’ve been working with Glenmore Lodge over the past few months, so when they invited us to take part in their Discover Rock Climbing course, we jumped at the chance.

Over two days, we had the opportunity to learn from an expert instructor, ask all the questions we’d been holding back, and acquire the essential skills to start exploring outdoor crags and leading climbing at indoor walls. More than anything, it gave us the confidence to get out with more experienced climbers and actually feel part of the session, not just watching from the sidelines.

If you’ve ever wanted to try climbing for the first time or take the next step from bouldering to lead climbing, this course is a brilliant place to start. But what does the course actually involve doing? Click here to read more:https://www.wiredforadventure.com/how-to-get-started-rock-climbing-in-scotland-with-glenmore-lodge/
