June 2024, the CarWow channel conducted another test of the power reserve of six “electric cars” in Britain, in the mode in which an ordinary owner would drive. And compared the obtained reserve with the nominal (measured according to the WLTP cycle), in percent. So, the BMW i5 and Polestar 2 showed 82%, BYD Seal - 87.5%, Porsche Taycan - 88%, Tesla Model 3 - 90%, Mercedes EQE - 94%.
Another test conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation in January 2024 showed how much the range drops in winter. 23 electric cars were tested at temperatures from minus two to minus ten degrees Celsius. The best was the HiPhi Z, which lost only 5.9% of its range in the cold compared to the WLTP specification. Even the second BMW i5 lost 12.9%. Most models lost 15-30% of their range in such conditions, and the last of the models tested was the VW ID.7 (-31.9%).
As you can see, the driving conditions have a strong impact on the results. And what about the car itself? Now it's time to move on to the absolute record for electric cars - 2573.79 km on one charge ! (Without the help of solar panels.) In September 2023, they were shown by the muc22 electric car, specially created for such races , the brainchild of students from the Technical University of Munich.
