The new Bayeux Tapestry trailer casts Claudia as a British Museum employee and leans fully into comedy to promote the tapestry’s extraordinary return to Britain for the first time in around 960 years. It is already a monster draw, with the first ticket release selling out to December.

Very British. Very clever. And possibly the best museum advert we’ve seen in years.

‼️King Charles’ cousin, King Harald of Norway, has died‼️
TheVerySimonG pays tribute to a much-loved King

King Harald V has died aged 89, bringing to a close a remarkable reign and another deeply personal chapter for Europe’s closely connected royal families.

Simon’s tribute is well worth watching. Warm, thoughtful and packed with the sort of royal history we love.

King Harald V was never just another European monarch to Britain’s royals. He was family, Queen Elizabeth II’s second cousin, and part of a bond that ran through generations. He also helped change royal history, waiting nine years to marry Sonja Haraldsen and proving love could outrank pedigree. Today, the UK royals mourn not just a king, but one of their own.

Two Royal favourites gone in barely 24 hours. Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. At this point, can somebody please start doing welfare checks on the national treasures?

And tomorrow I will be very disappointed if the Buckingham Palace guards don’t give us The Time Warp.

‼️When Dolly met the Queen, and her other royal moments‼️

Vale Dolly Parton.

There are some people who feel like they have always been there, and Dolly was one of them.

In 1977 she met Queen Elizabeth II after performing during the Silver Jubilee year. Dolly later admitted she was nervous about getting the royal etiquette right, but remembered the Queen as warm and gracious.

The Queen of Country meeting The Queen. Hard to top that.

There were a few other royal links along the way too.

Diana attended the London premiere of Steel Magnolias in 1990, with Dolly playing the unforgettable Truvy.

Years later, Catherine invited Dolly for tea while she was in Britain. Dolly had to turn her down because she was working, then joked that Catherine was not going to promote her rock album anyway.

Very Dolly.

She also invited George, Charlotte and Louis to Dollywood and said they would be treated like royalty.

And Dolly and Queen Camilla had something lovely in common too. Both have been huge supporters of reading and literacy, Dolly through her Imagination Library and Camilla through The Queen’s Reading Room.

Funny, kind, glamorous, generous and completely herself.

For so many of us, Dolly was not just a country singer. She was part of the soundtrack of our lives.
