Allesley Close Further update flooding situation
An update from BCC flood manager and Kier and my comments below.
Kier are hoping to be out to today .The officer responsible for flood control/action across the City is reviewing the need for another gully. I have stressed the need to unblock the problem now and add the extra gully if that will be a longer term solution.
I am aware of the risk of flooding to nearby house which has been reported.
Its totally unsatisfactory as I think much of this problem of flooding could have ben avoided if BCC had acted sooner in the year!
Seems to me that we keep being let down come rain or shine whether its no bin collections, closing libraries ,charging for cars in the park , now flooding .
Flooding action manager advice
"From a quick study of the site, water collects in the low spot before Boswell Rd, causing significant ponding - the national surface water mapping picks up the topography quite well.
Potentially a blockage or sewer capacity issue in heavy rain, as the 225mm surface water sewer (SWS) should suffice, as only receives flow from a 150mm upstream. Conversely, the 225mm SWS could be backing up from the 300mm SWS in Boswell Rd, as the 300mm SWS looks to serve a large drainage catchment and at capacity.
Allesley Rd is well served by gullies, with circa 40m spacing – however, we’ll investigate whether one / two additional gullies could be installed adjacent to existing gullies, near the substation, to assist the road drainage. "
