Are these bumps “normal” after laser hair removal? ✅ YES.
If you’ve ever had laser hair removal and looked down afterwards thinking…
Why do my legs look like chicken skin?”
Let me reassure you… this is a very common, NORMAL skin response and actually a great sign the laser has done its job.
So what is it?
Those little red bumps are usually perifollicular erythema + oedema
(fancy words for a mild inflammatory response around the hair follicle implying the follicle has absorbed the energy).
Why does it happen?
Laser targets the pigment in the hair, heats the follicle, and your skin responds with:
✅ redness
✅ warmth
✅ tiny bumps
✅ mild sensitivity
How long does it last?
Most people calm down within:
⏳ a few hours to 24 hours
(occasionally up to 48 hours depending on skin sensitivity)
What to do after your session
▫️ Cool the area if needed
▫️ Keep skin clean + moisturised
▫️ Avoid heat, gym, hot baths/sauna for 24–48 hours
▫️ No fake tan / active skincare for a few days
▫️ SPF is non-negotiable ☀️
