⭐️⭐️⭐️ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Clive Scott (Bishopston Community Council) is working with Swansea Council on a pilot project to help maintain some of the paths in our community to ensure that you can continue to enjoy the beautiful spaces we have, but he needs your help!
If you are interested, please come along on WEDNESDAY 6TH AUGUST 10AM, meeting in Bishopston Community Centre Car Park, where Swansea Parks Department will be training people to use brush cutters and hedge trimmers (volunteers must do the training for insurance purposes). The training should be about an hour.
Clive spoke about the project at our AGM in March - "As background, there are 400 miles of footpaths, in previous years there were 9 people in charge of them, with £100,000/yr. Now, there are still 400 miles of footpaths, but only 3 people and £40,000/yr. The footbridge in Bishopston Valley which was renewed cost £19,000, so that shows the current issues that are being faced. The more time that is put into bid writing, means less time maintaining paths. So now there is a pilot project that the Community Council is adopting footpaths to maintain, but these are just the ones on the list, there are many that aren’t!
Bishopston CC is adopting:
• Copley Common
• Murton Green path
• Joiners to the Church
• Barland Quarry to Blackhills"
