Braving the weather! 🌧

So you never expect one of the new bikes’ first outings to be in storm Ben……….but yes we are out in it, serving the NHS in Wiltshire…….and our other 3 counties, of course.

Keep an eye out for our bustards!

Recently our juvenile hand reared Great Bustards were released in Wiltshire, they have been reared from eggs that were rescued, under a Natural England license, from silage cutting earlier this year. Just like the parent reared juveniles, these released birds are starting to roam and explore. The released females have been fitted with GPS trackers, however due to the design of the tracker they are unsuitable for males and we do not fit them to any parent reared birds, so we rely on sightings reports for them. We are very keen and grateful to hear from anyone who spots a Great Bustard, a what3words or google pin are useful to us, please send any sightings to [email protected].

New machines for our local blood bike charity ❤️

We've just taken formal delivery today of 2 brand new BMW RT1300 machines to bolster our fleet.

So kind of BMW to allow us to Buy 2 and get 1 Free..............................albeit a smaller version!!

We are appealing for information and dash cam footage following the theft of a van in Blunsdon this afternoon (22/09), during which the victim was dragged down the road by the vehicle.

At around 12.30pm this afternoon, we received a report that an unknown suspect had targeted a white van which was making deliveries in Blunsdon High Street.

While the victim was delivering a parcel, the suspect has jumped in the van and driven off. We have since located the vehicle.

The driver, a woman in her 40s, attempted to hold on to the vehicle and was dragged down the road. She has been taken to hospital with injuries that are potentially life-changing.

We have already spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene however we are keen to hear from any witnesses who we haven’t spoken to, or anyone who has information.

We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dashcam footage of the incident.

Training saves lives! 👏 👏 👏

As we rush towards the late Autumn and many people hang up their motorcycle boots for the winter, what better way to end the season and prepare for next year then to undertake a motorcycle safety workshop designed specifically by bikers for bikers, to keep you safe on two wheels?

We still have two places available for the upcoming Police BikeSafe workshops on 28th September and a further 7 places available for the 5th October. These are one day courses held at Wiltshire Police HQ in Devizes.

Insp John Hutchings, Wiltshire Police BikeSafe Lead, said: "This is a final opportunity to undertake the workshops in Wiltshire this year. The course is designed for those riders who have not yet undertaken any further training since passing their test, whenever that may have been and no matter how many miles you travel on two wheels per year.

"It is never too late and we never stop learning, so do yourself a favour and book on the course."

You must have a full motorcycle licence and a motorcycle of at least 125cc that can travel at the national speed.

It's National Blood Week and we want to recognise the 850 blood donation jobs already completed this year by the team at Severn Freewheelers.

Throughout 2025, the over 100 volunteers covering our local area will continue to work every day to provide quick and safe transportation so that patient can receive the life-saving treatments and blood donations that they need.🩸
