Tain & District Post

Tain & District Post We like to include as many pictures as we can from local events/schools and so forth and the “Old File” historical pictures are extremely popular.

The Tain & District Picture Post was a monthly magazine for the Tain area featuring pictures and reports of local news and events, and stories of local history, which was published from 1999 to 2023. The Tain & District Picture Post is a monthly magazine which covers local news and events and has regular contributions from individuals writing their memories of growing up in Tain, other local histo

ry writers as well as regular updates from schools and clubs/organisations so it has a variety of content. We are grateful for the support we receive from local business advertising and our local retailers which helps to keep us in circulation. Communication is one of the main functions of the magazine and readers are encouraged to view it as a platform to request information, support a local cause or charity and raise the profile of other local ventures free of charge. It has become very popular, particularly in Tain, since its inception and is especially favoured for giving readers a trip down memory lane. We like to focus on the positive news in the community to uplift our readers and feel that the existence of the TDPP contributes somewhat in giving cohesiveness to our community.

2025 Season

Tain and District Museum and Clan Ross Centre is delighted to announce the opening of our 2025 season on April 1st! We’ll be welcoming visitors through our doors Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm, right through to the end of October.

Alongside our popular exhibits on Tain Silver, Sport, Slavery, Tain Tolbooth, and many others, we’re excited to unveil two newly refreshed displays:

🔸 A powerful look at the Highland Clearances
🔸 A showcase of rare Military artefacts from our collection

For the full experience, we highly recommend booking a Guided Tour of the museum site or a Clan Ross tour. It’s the best way to explore the rich history we preserve—and a wonderful way to support the museum.

If you’d like to book a tour or arrange a visit outside regular hours, we’d love to hear from you!
