‼️NEW POP-UP ART GALLERY OPENS IN ANKERSIDE SHOPPING CENTRE‼️

A fantastic collaboration between St Editha's, Tamworth and Tamworth Castle has transformed Unit 15 (opposite Jessie's Journey) into a pop-up art gallery as part of the Athelstan 1100 celebrations.

The gallery is now open between 9am – 3pm Mon-Sun and admission is completely FREE!

The gallery features an incredible selection of artwork and historic treasures from both St Editha’s and the Tamworth Castle Archives.

Remarkable pieces are being displayed to the public for the very first time. There’s also a dedicated community art space showcasing local artists, along with workshops and a seating area for visitors to enjoy (more being added soon 👀)

You’ve heard the whistle… now it’s time to head to the Whistlestop Cafe-A444 J11 M42/A42! 🍳

I had the pleasure of popping down to the cafe and tried one of the sausage sandwiches with a proper cup of Yorkshire Tea.

I had the chance to sit down with Mark, who co-owns the café alongside his wife, Claire.

We chatted about the history of the Whistle Stop Cafe, how long they’ve been serving the local community, and the many truck drivers who stop by for a great breakfast and a friendly chat.

One thing that really stood out was their support for drivers mental wellbeing Mental Truckers As Mark put it, “It gets lonely being a truck driver” so they’ve worked hard to create a welcoming place where people can enjoy good food, have a conversation, and not feel alone.

It’s a brilliant message and something that’s clearly at the heart of what they do.

Mark, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. Thank you for the great hospitality.

A huge shoutout to the Sea Cadets Tamworth & Lichfield! 👏🏼⚓

The work these guys do is truly phenomenal. From sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, rowing, powerboating and so much more, the team offer young people incredible opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence whilst having fun.

It was great chatting with Maria, who leads the Tamworth & Lichfield Sea Cadets, whilst chatting to cadets Grace, Vanesa, and Tom to hear about their experiences.

If you’re thinking about joining the Sea Cadets, I’d highly recommend getting in touch. They’re friendly, welcoming and full of opportunities.

Thank you to everyone at Tamworth & Lichfield Sea Cadets, it was a pleasure learning about what you do.
