I’m leaving Last One Home
Two years and eight months of shows, recording, filming, laughing, travelling, live streaming, video-calling, eating, drinking black coffee and sleeping (only once in the van!) later, and it’s time for me to part ways.
I want to simplify my life to focus on a couple of things, and to do them really well. No half measures. Both the band and me deserve more than that.
I need to make some changes, and focus on good mental health.
Tom’s exciting move to Bristol to begin a uni course in songwriting felt like a natural next chapter for the band. I felt the band would miss out on opportunities, and won’t be running at full speed, because of me.
I feel confident that Tom & Fin will be able to find an amazing drummer at BIMM / Bristol or through the amazing friends we’ve made in this band - someone who can focus entirely on the music.
Leaving on good terms, for the right reasons, is so important, because I care about the future of this band and about Tom & Fin as people.
I want the band to see this as an opportunity to find a new band member that is a full time musician and can pour all their time and their heart into the project like I no longer can.
This isn’t the last you’ll see from me musically though, quite the opposite…
I’m honing my skills composing music and editing for game & film, and planning to produce / co-write as much as I can.
So thank you. So much.
Every gig and every festival has been special. You’ve helped me make memories that I’m really really proud of, and made me a better player and person.
