As many of you will know - we did our last ever show this summer, and celebrated 10 years of Mammoth Sound.
For the last 5 years we ran a label too - Mammoth Records, which we've decided to put into hibernation (for now!).

Thanks once more to everyone who has supported our local DJs and producers over the years, this project was always about showcasing local talent, rather than making money or clout.

The founding members of Mammoth grew up around Taunton, they had always been dissatisfied with the lack of variety in Taunton’s nightlife, were tired of hearing chart music all night long and wanted to put on an event which was completely different to anything Taunton had ever seen or heard before!
After a great deal of planning and significant investment, Mammoth Sound organised their first event in July 2015 at the Wi******er Arms in Taunton, they booked an array of local DJs to come and play on their small but bespoke sound system and it was free for anybody to attend. The event was a success and the management at the Wi******er Arms agreed to have them back for another event.
After several more events at the Wi******er they began to accumulate a cult following and became a staple of Taunton nightlife, bringing DJs from all over the South West to come and play an eclectic range of underground music which couldn’t be heard anywhere else in town.
Mammoth continued to grow in popularity and before long they had invested a significant amount of their own time and money into developing their sound system. As their popularity grew, so did their ambition. They started to reach out to some renowned DJs to see whether it was possible to book them to come and play in Taunton. Before long they had some big names travelling to Taunton to perform, which caused a huge amount of buzz around the town.
In the peak of Summer in 2017 they collaborated with Hot Cakes record label to bring Deekline, Serial Killaz, Fish and DevelopMENT to Taunton as part of an all-day Summer BBQ, bringing over 400 people inside the venue, the atmosphere was electric and to this day many people will tell you it was perhaps the best dance music event Taunton has seen this decade!
However, towards the end of 2017 the Mammoth Sound crew realised that they had outgrew the Wi******er Arms and would need a bigger and more suitable venue to be able to fuel their ambition. They were approached by Zinc Nightclub who asked them to begin a residency at the club, organising and promoting an event for them once a month, they gladly accepted and going into 2018 they continued to bring bigger acts to come and perform in Taunton every month.
Their resident DJs were also asked to perform and collaborate with other promoters at festivals and events all across the South West that summer too.
Coming into 2019 they maintain their monthly residency at Zinc and are looking to collaborate, and perform as much as possible throughout the summer.
