A group of villagers from Curry Mallet and Beercrocombe near Taunton have come together to bring their local pub back to life. After 200 years of trading, time was called at The Bell Inn at the end of March. Following hard on the heels of the loss of the village shop and the bus route, this was one loss too many for the community and they decided to take action.

Buzzing with Creativity – HIVE Exhibition Lands at The Bridgy Gallery

At a time when everyone is conscious of climate change and protecting the natural environment, a bold new exhibition, HIVE, launches at The Bridgy Gallery in Bridgwater, bringing together over 20 local artists to explore themes of nature, landscape, ecology, and community. The exhibition is completely free to attend, and runs until 17th October, as part of the exciting programme of events supported by the Bridgwater Town Deal throughout 2025.

We are delighted to invite you and your team to take part in the Visit Exmoor Young Chef and Aspiring Chef Competitions 2025, two exciting opportunities to celebrate and showcase the very best emerging culinary talent in our region.

The Exmoor Young Chef Competition is open to aspiring cooks aged 11–17, and will be held on Saturday 4th October 2025 at West Somerset College. This competition offers young people the chance to build confidence, gain mentoring support from professional chefs, and showcase their creativity.

The brand-new Aspiring Chef Competition is designed for young professionals aged 18–24 working in kitchens, and will take place on Monday 20th October 2025 at Minehead Community College. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to nominate and support their rising stars as they gain recognition and experience in a competitive yet encouraging environment.

Both competitions provide an important platform to inspire the next generation of chefs while raising the profile of our region’s outstanding hospitality sector.
