A rehearsal on a Monday evening is always a wonderful way to start the week, especially as we're rehearsing such a wonderful programme!

Finally! I've finished my choral work. It took some wrangling to complete the second movement (which I wrote last) but now all the notes have been caught and tamed and forged into a four movemnt mixed choir piece. All that remains to do is to tidy it up and add some fine details.

I'm already working on another piece, which I didn't expect, but the muse struck this morning with a bonkers idea that might just turn out well. Watch this space (and the website)!

It's been challenging trying to keep on task recently, but I'm finally taking steps towards the final part of a choral work I'm composing. Still need to top and tail a piece from a while ago, but there are only so many hours in the day.

I'm still riding high after Saturday's outstanding concert with Easingwold Singers. I still have Haydn's Missa in tempore belli properly stuck in my head. Talk about an ear worm!

What a great concert by Northallerton Silver Band led by their brilliant MD Stuart Shields. It was very entertaining and a high standard of musicianship on display. The soloists were fabulous. Well done to all who took part.
