Last week, Thorne Rural Lions brought their 2025 Christmas Toy Appeal to a close at Mcdonald's Thorne, handing over just some of the donations made to Doncaster Council east area stronger communities officers.

The Lions said they have had so many donations, and they are truly thankful.

They also highlighted one particular donation of gifts from of 7-year-old Oliver Jackson, who attends Brooke Primary School in Thorne.

The Lions say that throughout the year, Oliver has used his birthday and Christmas money, as well as anything else he could raise, to go out and purchase toys to put towards his goal of getting as many gifts for the Lions' toy appeal as possible (more in the comments).

What's On - McDonald's Thorne is holding a family fun day on Sunday (21 Dec, 12-2pm) with all proceeds going towards the Ronald McDonald House Charity.

The charity provides free accommodation near specialist children's hospitals, giving families a 'home away from home' while a child is in hospital.
