This news has really hit me in the feels today. ๐
Back in 1997, my mum handed me a book by an author called Madeleine Wickhamโฆ and that was it. Hooked. Gone. Off into book-land. ๐โจ
Picture it: three tiny preschool terrors finally asleep ๐ด๐ด๐ด โฆ and me, reading until my eyes shut of their own accord. Most mornings Iโd wake up with the book still in my hand.
(It took ages to finish. Please refer back to โthree small childrenโ for reasons why. ๐)
But that book lit a spark again โ it dragged me back to my very first love: READING.
Through every chapter of my life, thereโs always beenโฆ well, another chapter.
Major surgery? โMight as well see what this Harry Potter fuss is about!โ โก
Grief and heartbreak? Books carried me away when my mind and heart needed somewhere softer to land. ๐
Travelling alone? A book in your hand means you never look alone. Instant company. ๐๐
This is why I adore libraries.
My reading taste? Eclectic with a capital E. From Sophie Kinsella to Stephen King to Jilly Cooper โ the only three authors Iโve truly completed like a collector with full sets. ๐
And the library? Itโs my pick โnโ mix. One week romance, the next a thriller, then a biography, or something that makes me snort-laugh in public (looking at you, Bob Mortimer). ๐คฃ
And yes โ Madeleine Wickham turned out to be Sophie Kinsella all along. A plot twist worthy of a novel. ๐
Libraries have been my escape, my comfort, my joyโฆ and Iโm so grateful for every single bookish moment theyโve given me. โค๏ธ๐
Come along say hi and welcome to the world of adventure
We are heartbroken to announce the passing this morning of our beloved Sophie (aka Maddy, aka Mummy). She died peacefully, with her final days filled with her true loves: family and music and warmth and Christmas and joy.
We canโt imagine what life will be like without her radiance and love of life. Despite her illness, which she bore with unimaginable courage, Sophie counted herself truly blessed - to have such wonderful family and friends, and to have had the extraordinary success of her writing career. She took nothing for granted and was forever grateful for the love she received.
She will be missed so much our hearts are breaking๐๐๐
