Health & Safety

Some people think that health and safety is someone's problem, but in fact, it is everyone's responsibility.

I recently turned up at a wedding venue (outside Caithness) that I hadn't been into in a while. They were showing me some new lights they had bought....and I froze.
"You bought them from either (insert name of 2 website here), didn't you?"
"How do you know that?" The manager asked.
I could tell from looking at the plugs that the lights were made outside the UK and would be illegal, and I was right. In this case, it was that:
The plug was physically too small for UK regulations.
There isn't a fuse in it.
There is plastic insulation on the earth pin.

The venue was happy thatI pointed this out and are going to get the lights rewired by a professional.

But this is a good reminder to everyone that when buying electrical items from website, even though they could be stamped with the right marking, the markings can be fake, and the item can still be dangerous.

I'm delighted that Jacqueline has asked me to come along to Stemster House for their ladies day, all raising funds for the local Macmillan Nurses
I'm donating my time and services for the day, where I'll be playing tunes, letting you song karaoke, letting get photographic proof you enjoyed yourself with the photobooth, and helping out where I can.

Yes it's pay weekend, so this Saturday 3rd May at 8pm, I'll be playing the finest (and cheesiest) 80s music in the Royal British Legion Thurso.

The wedding day of a loving couple is one of the most important events to happen in their lives, and it is important for me that I do everything that I can to make it extra special for them.

In August 2024 Bekki and Ashley asked me to provide them with my outdoor ceremony and meal package at the lovely Stemster House for their big day. Over the period between their initial contact and the week of the wedding, we discussed what they all wanted and needed, and I could do for them, and of course what song that Bekki wanted to walk down the aisle to.

The week of the wedding as we were finalising the music for the ceremony Bekki asked if I could help her with a surprise for Ashley and her guests. She wanted to play a message from their children just before she walked down the aisle, and of course I said I would. When she sent me the message, I had a brain wave.

Bekki wanted her entrance song to start as a specific point, but I suggested why don't I play the song from the start, but I'll remove the vocals from the first bit, and instead play the cutest voice message ever over it, ending with her son saying "Here comes mummy!", just before her entrance? She agreed, thinking it would be brilliant.

A bit of editing and reworking later, the track was ready. On the day it worked better than anyone imagined. In fact it was so cute that if anyone there said they had a dry eye, they were lying.

Have a wee listen yourself, but be warned you better have the Kleenex to hand.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the rescheduled senior social such a success tonight. Thank you to Cameron’s buses for transporting the pupils, the band, everyone who helped organise all the fine details, Dynamic Sounds Disco & Events Services for the photobooth and the staff who helped out on the night. Last, but not least, thank you to all the pupils for making it such a lovely evening - we hope you all had a great night and the wait was worth it, you all looked so fabulous 💃🏼🕺🏽
