Singletrack: A meandering narrow slice of heaven, a beckoning angel, a rightful absolution from the stresses of the day, a battleground for friendly rivalries, a test of tyre contact patch adhesion, a skerf of dust kicked up on a corner, the justification for buying an expensive bike, the reason for keeping a cheap bike, a dance on the pedals, a stifled smirk, an ear to ear grin, a ‘don’t look at

the tree’ moment, a qualifier for pies, beer and cake. The reason for dragging yourself out of bed on a wet Sunday morning in February, in order to earn a perfect summer’s day in return.

There's more to a trip than just riding - really important stuff like sleeping and eating. For their trip to Morzine and Les Gets, Mark, Benji and Sanny got to sample the local cuisines and stay in fabulous chalets.

For accomodation in Morzine, Bike Morzine offer complete packages across over 60 properties in the area. Whereas for somewhere to stay in Les Gets, Chalets 1066 have got you sorted. And to get you there, make sure you book your transfers with Skiidy Gonzales - they also ride, and can give you some extra top tips or guided ride packages.

The guys did plenty of eating whilst they were there. The top spots in Morzine were O'Chalet, La Flamme and La Bonbonniere Patissier, and for Les Gets they headed to Restaurant Basskour, Ice Burg Burger Bar and L’As des Neiges and Le Comptoir.

After an apres-mtb beverage? Check out L'ApresSki Bar Resto or the Ibex brewery.

And if you find after all that food that you can't fit in your pants anymore, head to The Hub Les Gets for a new outfit.

Still wondering where to go on holiday this summer? Thinking of a last minute deal?

Check out our destination guides for some inspiration!

Earlier in the season, Mark, Sanny and Benji headed to Morzine and Les Gets to check out the trails. For more beginner riders, Les Gets is the place to be with more gentle slopes and trails. However, if you're after more challenging DH park tracks, Morzine is the spot for you.

Both areas also have some great natural options away from the bike parks.

Head to www.singletrackworld.com for the destination guides, or pick up a copy of issue 162.

Continuing our series of Bike Checks, here’s Tailfin’s Head of PR and his Pivot Mach 4SL. This is James Bracey and his lighter-than-your-gravel-bike Pivot Mach 4SL. Who are you then? James Bracey: "My job title is long and varied but essentially I look after all the PR, riders, events and wider community around Tailfin. It’s super fun in that every day brings something new to work with but I would guess a lot of my time is taken up with working with our vast crew of R&D Division riders, liaising with the product and design team to provide essential feedback from the riders alongside keeping the industry abreast with the latest Tailfin endeavours....

The Verbier Bike Festival is now in full swing and carries on through this weekend.

We wish we could be there for morning sessions on fresh singletrack, amazing lunches, more singletrack, then afternoons sampling local food and drink, then evenings in the Event Village experiencing the signature post-ride buzz.

In the Event Village you can nose around more than 30 brands, including 21 bike manufacturers. The Village isn’t just for gearheads. Families are also welcome, with kids’ activities, plus live music and festive programming every afternoon.

The after-bike sessions turn the day’s efforts into good times. Mini-bike races, silent parties, and hands-on activities around every booth mean there’s always something fun to get involved with.

Find out all the details on www.singletrackworld.com. We reckon you can still make it out there in time to catch the festival!

Today the Verbier Bike Festival begins in beautiful Val de Bagnes, and we're seriously envious of anyone that's heading there.

There's plenty of challenging and exhilarating riding to be had, with 520km of alpine trails to explore. You can do your own thing, or take part in a series of specific challenges over the weekend organised by sponsors such as Specialized Bicycles , Bosch eBike Systems and Ridley Bikes . There's something for riders of all abilities to be able to push themselves.

But it wouldn't be a trip to Verbier without the chance to sample the local cuisine - the much-loved Rando Gourmande is back offering riders a culinary adventure. Riders sample regional products along the way: alpine cheeses, artisanal charcuterie, and Swiss wines, making cycling a delicious excuse to discover the local fare.

Head over to www.singletrackworld.com for more details - there's still time for a last minute flight!

Tomorrow the Verbier Bike Festival kicks off in the stunning Val de Bagnes area, with 20 specific routes spread over 520km of alpine trails.

If that wasn't enough, there are over 400 bikes available for testing during the festival. And this time it's not just e-bikes!

All kinds of bike are welcome now, which very much reflects the attitude of ebikers and regular bikers out on the trails these days.

No more ‘us versus them’. Everyone here to have a great time riding great trails on great bikes. From gravel grinders through to pedal-assisted gravity addicts, everyone can enjoy Verbier Bike Festival 2025. Whether you’re here to test the latest bikes, explore scenic trails, or simply soak in the eclectic mountain vibe, there’s something for all skill levels and cycling styles.

From the 14th to 17th August, head to the Verbier Bike Festival for arguably the best trails and cuisine in Europe.
