We manage the TLC loyalty card and prize draw, and produce the popular What's On guide to the town's events Tonbridge Town Team was set up in response to the call by Mary Portas and Local Government Minister, Grant Shapps, for bids to share in a £1m fund to help breath new life into the country’s high Streets. Since then, we have taken the Town Team concept forward and made it an effective means t
o bring people and institutions together so that we can ensure Tonbridge High Street and the wider town develops as a viable and sustainable retail, business and cultural centre. A group of enthusiastic Individuals, businesses, campaigns, the Borough Council and other stakeholders form the nucleus of the Town Team. The only criterion for membership is an enthusiasm for practical and constructive action. This is not intended to be a ‘talking shop’ or consultative group; it is a ‘can do’ body dedicated to making a difference. We organised the amazingly successful 'Taste of Tonbridge' event to showcase all that the town has to offer and followed this up with the launch of our Tonbridge Loyalty Card scheme which continues strongly today. We have also instigated the annual Dragon Boat races which take place on the River Medway in September and the Tonbridge Food and Drink Festival which takes place in May in the grounds of Tonbridge Castle. In addition, we publish the What's On In Tonbridge magazine which has also been hugely successful. We also support other organisations to develop and put on events and more activities are planned for the future! How can you help? We want to hear your ideas.
