When was the last time a business account made you feel something, rather than just presenting you with something to buy?
Our recent fundraising market reminded me just how powerful community can be. We took the collaborative route with as many stallholders as we could fit in the time we had, turning their stories into shared posts.
Over the weeks, those posts picked up around 15,000 views, and each one introduced us to people we might not have reached on our own. The best bit? It didn’t even feel like marketing; it felt like a community rooting for each other!
It’s easy to forget that social media is meant to be social. Instagram especially is built for it, with collabs, story mentions, and tags all designed to bring people together. Personality and personal stories are what people actually stop for. Selling is part of a good strategy, of course, but it’s only one part of it.
Most of us don’t buy the first time we see something. We notice it, come back, have a little look around, and wait until it feels right. Community is often what keeps us coming back. It won’t suit every business in the same way, but almost every business has people it could be lifting up: suppliers, clients, neighbours, partners.
Is there a person or a business you’d love to celebrate this month? 👇
