A really busy day at Torbay Velopark last Sunday for the Torbay Autumn Triathlons by with stacked fields for each category and especially the youth age groups. Amazing to see so many people of all ages and abilities challenging themselves.

A selection from my images of Dawlish Triathlon bike and run legs that took place around Dawlish Warren at the end of September. Cockwood Harbour (last slide) just after sunrise looked ‘beyond paradise’ which was handy as Kris Marshall was taking on the challenge along with another fundraiser for a Children’s Cancer charity.

Three tracked and stacked compositions from a Dartmoor wildcamp last Thursday night with where conditions were so good we reckoned it was one of the best nights we’ve done astrophotography on the moor. Hopefully many more nights like this!

Not been out for an astro shoot since May. Clear sky on a new moon and could not miss a chance to get to a fave local spot. This time of year the Milky Way core rises behind the town but is still visble and worth having ago. These are both made of 10 sky frames tracked with the Nomad, stacked and blended with a single foreground image.
Slide 1:
Sky: 10 x 1min at 800 iso f2 stacked in Siril
Foreground: 1 x 15s 1600 is f2
Blended and edited in photoshop.

Slide 2:
Sky: 10 x 2min 400 iso f2
Foreground: 1 x 30s 3200 iso f2
Stacked in Siril, blended and edited in photoshop.

Fairly happy with these considering I’ve not been out for the stars in months!

Another great day out last Saturday with the cameras for to capture riders taking on the Lands End 100 and Cornwall Grit. So lucky with the weather after the overnight downpours. Well done everyone who rode the event and helped organise. 👏

A selection of shots from last month’s Devon Grit by Sportiva Events that started and finished on Exmouth Seafront taking in a brutal route around Woodbury Common and many byeways and bridleways. Having ridden this event in its first year I know first hand what competitors are dealing with. Chapeau 👏

After all the weeks of build up from our first convos to designing logos, flyers and other graphics, the night finally arrived and it absolutely went off!! Full Tilt indeed with great sets from everyone in a rammed room one while Kinda Funky kept room two packed. Huge congrats to all Arena Torquay and everyone involved making this night happen.

Counting down to this Saturday’s Claires Full Tilt and Kinda Funky reunion at
I designed the flyers from the very first in the early 90’s until sometime in the early 2000’s. Styles changed over the years with influences from bigger nights or if not using stock images I’d use my own along with what ever typography was in vogue at the time. It was an opportunity to try new things. Along with the flyers, the logos were something I would try and evolve from their humble beginnings. Full Tilt started life as a Pinball table bumper. Kinda Funky took influence from the Acid Jazz record label. Both logos evolved to be iconic for the nights they represented.
Very proud to have been involved back in the day as both designer and dj, and super-proud to have been asked to be involved again.
It’s going to be special to be playing in the original building again!

Was hoping to make it onto the media team for Electric Bay but alas it didn’t work out this year. Was still able to go for the Saturday evening and see Fatboy Slim’s performance. Only phone pics but it looked amazing and a huge success for the 3 day event at Torre Abbey Meadows. Live bands on Friday with Bloc Party headlining, House Dj’s on Saturday that along with Fatboy Slim’s finale included local legend Alex Souloud supporting Sarah Story, Paul Woolford, Idris Elba and more. Sunday was Drum n Bass acts that also included Goldie with his live show.

It takes a massive effort for the organisers and their mainly South West-based production team to create these experiences and hopefully with the revenue it brings to the towns of Torbay more events like this can continue to happen.

Maybe a huge Classical festival could work with BBC3 or Classic FM? Then perhaps have Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classical Orchestra to complete the party? Or some of the more retro bands that are still touring could work. Either way, it’s putting the English Riviera on the map for amazing events that compare to the likes of larger cities like Cardiff, Bristol and further afield.

Bravo!👏 🙌
