What if I don't have magazines?
Let's get creative - that's part of art journaling! Everything in these pictures was free - it's amazing what you can find when you start looking.
Free options
• Grocery stores – places like Tesco, Waitrose etc often have free magazines in store
• Catalogues, flyers, brochures – while some places have gone digital there are still plenty of printed options around, think big box stores here
• Tourist info – loads of places have flyers / brochures / booklets about local attractions and they aren’t just at the tourist info centres, I’ve seen them in pubs, restaurants, motorway services and all sorts of other places
• Local free magazines/papers – you’ll see these at the park and ride, train stations, coffee shops etc
• Ask your neighbours to save things for you – if you don’t know them, pop them a note through the door to say hi, put a notice up at the post office, library or wherever your local bulletin board is.
• Look out for local groups online like freecycle, post on facebook or other online community groups.
Cheap options
• Charity shops / second hand stores / thrift shops – whatever you want to call them they will definitely have pre-loved magazines and books for sale. If you explain you want things for craft projects they may even have items that are too damaged to sell.
• Look out for community recycling / upcycling shops – Cambridge Community Scrapstore is one I know about,
Get collecting - our next session is Sunday (link in comments)
