Ad | We love a good book for a day at the beach, and What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside by Julia Donaldson and illustrated Lydia Monks, is a firm favourite of ours. The illustrations are beautiful and the kids love getting involved spotting the ladybird and joining in with all the sounds.
And now the What the Ladybird Heard series of books are available as board books too, which is perfect for Romy’s little hands to hold and help turn the pages.
These are books the kids always ask for time and time again and honestly I never get bored of them either! Even better when it’s being read at the beach playing in the sand and pretending we’re mermaids and sea lions too 🧜🏼‍♀️

A list of some of my favourite family-friendly beaches in Cornwall - some of our favourite go-to spots for swimming, surfing and exploring rock pools 🏖️

Also let me know which ones I’ve missed! I’m always on the hunt for new beaches to take the kids to. And I have a lot more to add to this post but have no pictures of them so stay tuned for a part 2!

Also please note that Newquay Harbour, St Mawes and Pentewan don’t have lifeguards. All of the rest do but lifeguards are only on patrol between the hours of 10am & 6pm. Please exercise caution when entering the water and keep an eye on your kids at all times, making sure they swim between the red and yellow flags if lifeguards are on patrol.
