The Royal Cornwall Show may have had its final day cancelled, but the weather did not deter several hundred people who came to Carnon Downs Methodist Church and Church Hall between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 6th June, for a community event organised by Feock Parish Council. More than 25 organisations, clubs and societies took part, engaging actively with those who attended, and letting them know what goes on locally and the range of activities and support available. Feock Parish Councillors and the Kea/Feock Cornwall Councillor, Martin Alvey, were there to be approached and consulted. Cornwall's Community Gateway, and the local NHS GPs' Surgery were represented, as were the Memory Cafe, Hidden Help, U3A, Carnon Downs Bowling Club, Carpet Bowls, Cornwall Cats Protection, local churches and village halls from across the parish. Devoran Pilot Gig Club had brought along a rowing machine which proved very popular with children and adults alike, as did the ample refreshments dispensed by church volunteers.
CHBN were there of course, to promote the radio station and its activities, and discuss the range of volunteering opportunities, and fielding many enquiries from exhibitors and members of the public.
