A Reform UK deputy leader has announced he is leaving the party just seven months after defecting from the Conservatives.

He claims disorganisation, intense infighting, and widespread incompetence left him with no choice but to walk away.

He joined Medway Council's Reform UK group, raising their numbers to three. But now he says he "made a mistake" and "can't take any more" and will sit as an independent.

Cllr Robbie Lammas says the toxic culture inside the party makes past Tory spats look like completely trivial playground arguments.

Lammas insists Reform are simply "unserious, unprepared and unfit to govern."

A man was brutally murdered inside his shared house over a £10 phone debt. 💔

The victim, who was in his 40s, had been arguing with a visitor, Ashley Robinson, inside their shared house on Castle Road in Chatham.

Robinson was demanding money he claimed he was owed for a phone.

And while the two men eventually separated, another resident was listening.

Mark Jesse, 51, was angered by the dispute and picked up a knife before marching into the victim's room.

Just a couple of minutes later, Jesse walked out and was heard saying, "We've done him. I've stabbed him in the ribs."

The victim was left with a single, fatal stab wound to his chest.

Jesse and Robinson fled the house together, abandoning their getaway car on Kingfisher Drive before going on the run.

But their escape did not last long, and both men were tracked down and arrested over the next two days.

Detectives say Jesse's actions showed a total lack of remorse, pointing out he took someone's life "deliberately and without reason."

Jesse has now been found guilty of murder at Maidstone Crown Court, while Robinson was convicted of assisting an offender.

Both men are waiting behind bars to find out how long they will spend in prison at a sentencing hearing set for a later date.
