We often take our gramophone out to local care homes and play an eclectic mix of popular tunes from the gramophone era. Yesterday was one of those rare opportunities when we played an entirely classical "prom". On these occasions we have a fixed playlist that we curate beforehand and produce a small programme. We have reproduced a copy in the comments..

Today we were privileged to be asked to join the VE Day celebrations of our local branch of the British Legion.

Tomorrow we will be at the Army Flying Museum , spinning a few war time hits.

Continuing our mission to show the general public how good a gramophone can sound, this coming Sunday (13th April) we will be making a welcome return to Shaw House , Newbury and their Love Local Artisan Fair. Why not join us for an eclectic mix of records from the roaring 1920s to the rock 'n' roll hits of the 1950s. Doors open at 11am.

Our most favourite card cover of the thirties shows a family around a gramophone. Until this week we had only ever seen one copy which is now somewhere in our accumulation of discs. but now we have another copy of this most charming cover.

Cover is for Fears of Bristol whose main business was (and still is!) watches.

Here's a couple more pictures of our WW2 set-up yesterday. Many thanks to the Army Flying Museum for their invitation to "share the shellac". Also many thanks to those who we chatted to, especially Phil who made a special effort to see us, and the air cadets who we diverted from admiring helicopters.
For the gramophone fans, the machines used from left to right are, HMV102, Gilbert Geisha, HMV114, and an HMV101.

First outing of the year, and we are Army Flying Museum for a Living History day. Lovely to start the year with an empty used needle dish.

Our first public outing of the year is in two weeks time at The Army Flying Museum, Andover, Hampshire, on Saturday 25th January 2025. Our playlist will be concentrating on world war two homefront hits, playing as usual on a collection of contemporary gramophones. We also will have a chance to show a few pieces from our other collecting interest of WW2 homefront "stuff".
