More sewage discharges in the Cut😡
Don't be suprised if you smell💩when walking your Dog this weekend, beyond ridiculous from Thames Water.
We will be writing to Thames Water alongside Josh to complain.

🚨 SEWAGE SCANDAL 💩
Already this January Binfield residents have been the victims of another 112 hours of Sewage discharge from Thames Water! This shocking environmental crime is an insult to residents, consumers, and our wildlife.

The Cut flows through the heart of our community, and I know that residents in Bray, Cox Green, and across the Constituency will be disgusted and outraged.

When will the government be bold enough to take action required to stop this vandalism?

Last week Chris had the chance to check out the construction work on the new surface car park at Broadway with Josh, looks like work is well underway for it to be open before Christmas!

As a follow-up to our previous message, we can confirm that the Mayor's Dinner raised just over £6k for Alexander Devine Children's Hospice, based in Cox Green.

Here we can see Mayor Simon Bond presenting the cheque to Fiona Devine.

The team at Alexander Devine does incredible work but is heavily reliant on donations to maintain their service. You can donate yourself here: https://alexanderdevine.enthuse.com/donate #!/

Today is the Mayor's Annual Fundraising Dinner. A fundraising event taking place at the Windsor Guildhall.

And we tell you this because the chosen charity is Alexander Devine. A phenomenal children's hospice service providing essential support to families of children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. And it's based right here in Cox Green.

Many will know about it, but there are an awful lot of people who aren't aware of the work they do. They are offering services to families across Berkshire and surrounding counties, so we're delighted that the Mayor has selected them for these much-needed funds.

You can make a donation here: https://alexanderdevine.enthuse.com/donate #!/

It was our pleasure to judge and award this year's Cox Green Garden in Bloom competition. Here we can see the winner (Lillibrooke Cresent) and Runner-Up (Farmers Close).

Garden in Bloom is free to enter, and anyone can nominate theirs (or someone else's garden). Ward Councillors then judge the entries for a winner and runner-up.

Everyone receives a certificate for entry and all sorts of gardens take part, large and small.

We'll be getting certificates out to all entries in the next week or so. Be sure to get ready for next year!

We're disappointed that for the second year, the path alongside 'the cut' (the stream behind the woods in Ockwells Park) has been left to become overgrown.

This is a popular stretch with walkers but has recently become difficult to get through. This is covered by the current landscaping contract so we've chased them to rectify things which, thankfully, has begun, but also are looking into why this area keeps getting forgotten.

If you haven't walked down there before and are looking for a lovely, peaceful walk through a natural area we'd totally recommend this.....now that you can.

It was a real pleasure handing out the prizes at this year's Cox Green Horticultural & Craft Show.

This event has been going (on and off) for more than 100 years so the 2024 winners add their names to an impressive historical record.

If you haven't taken part or visited the event before we would thoroughly recommend it. There are opportunities for residents young and old to take part in a range of competitions (including photography, art, knitting etc.) or you can simply visit and take in this wonderful community event.

This picture features some of the hardworking committee members that make sure that this event continues to uphold this local tradition. Well done everyone!

Hi everyone,

We've received a few questions about the hay bales in the back fields at Ockwells Park, near Thrift Wood. These bales are collected annually to maintain the habitat. They aren't commercially valuable, so they're used as simple fertiliser.

Unfortunately, wet weather has delayed their removal, as tractors can't access the area. A solution is in progress, but it's not ready yet.

Please report any suspicious activity with the bales. We're working to resolve this ASAP.
