David Longridge Author My first four novels concentrated on the period 1938 to 1962. The focus was on the transition of France from empire to post-colonial world power.

My latest novel ‘Barricade’ reflects the trauma of Congo gaining its independance from Belgium.

David Longridge’s latest novel.
My latest novel ‘Barricade’ is about a crucial but little-known period in Congo’s short history. Granted its independence in 1960, it suddenly became the focus of Cold War politics as Russia and the USA competed to gain influence over its vast mineral resources.
