Indie Novella is delighted to have acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights to The Amnicolists, the debut novel by author Sarah Parfitt sarah parfitt , who was shortlisted for the Peggy Chapman-Andrews First Novel Award in the 2025 Bridport Prize Bridport Prize. The Amnicolists is a literary-climate novel set in the aftermath of the historic floods on the Somerset Levels in the winter of 2013/14, and will be published in the spring of 2027.
The novel is told from the perspective of multiple narrative voices, including an archaeologist with one foot in mysticism, an artistically-blocked watercolour painter, a death-obsessed child, and a river. All are rebuilding. But do they want to repair, or replace? The novel interrogates ideas about man vs. land, whether movement is the first sign of life, why people continue to live in unstable environments, the intersection of faith and science, and the lacuna: the untranslatable space.
Publisher Damien Mosley who acquired the novel for Indie Novella, said, “we were delighted that Sarah chose Indie Novella.
