It’s an amazing story and legacy!

Today, we honour the incredible legacy of Sister Margaret Ansell, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday.

In a truly touching tribute, Bill Douglas donated £100,000 in her memory to Ninewells Neonatal Unit. Margaret played a vital role in Bill’s life, providing essential care when he was born, care that left a lifelong impact. See their story here https://youtu.be/nPs_xo8j7kQ

This generous gift not only celebrates her remarkable dedication as a nurse but also ensures that her compassion continues to make a difference for future generations.

A century on from her birth, Margaret’s legacy lives on, in gratitude, in generosity, and in the enduring power of care.

Staff on Ward 29 at Ninewells Hospital were delighted to receive a generous donation of snacks, drinks, mugs and toiletries from the family of one of their long-term patients, Billy.

Billy’s mum, Kirsty (pictured centre), organised Billy’s Bingo Bash a fundraiser to give back to the team who cared for Billy over the years. Her kindness and thoughtfulness mean so much to the staff and the donated items will bring comfort to patients and families on the ward.

Thank you to Billy’s family for this heartfelt gesture 💙⭐

📱What happens when you phone 111 in Scotland?

The first person you’ll speak to when you phone 111 will be a call handler. They’ll ask you:
🔹who you are
🔹where you’re phoning from
🔹why you’re phoning

We need to know as much about you and your health as possible to offer you the best help and advice. If you’re phoning on behalf of someone else, make sure you’re with them at the time of the call.

You’ll be assessed by our triage team and referred to your local NHS services if needed. This may involve a phone or video consultation with a clinician from your local health board or an appointment to attend A&E or Minor Injuries Unit.

During normal working hours always contact your own GP for urgent advice and treatment. The 111 service cannot arrange appointments at your GP.

We’re so proud to support the incredible team of allied health professionals at NHS Tayside NHS Tayside Children and Young People's Physiotherapy Service who go that extra mile to think of creative, child friendly ways to incorporate physio!

It makes our day when we receive feedback like this from the team on the impact that the funded resources from The Archie Foundation are having! 🥰💕

‘’We had a lovely oncology clinic on Monday and got to use a few of our new items funded by The Archie Foundation Tayside.

Our new glider planes went down an absolute treat! The children loved them and we got to do ‘sneaky physio’ adding in different challenges all while they thought they were just throwing planes at my face 🤣

One of the children who was initially reluctant, warmed up to the activity after seeing the planes, and at the end, he said he had a great time and wants to do it again next week.

We had a lovely group going of kids with various diagnoses and various function involving mobility and vision but we were able to adapt and get them all playing together and provide a bit of fun, physio and distraction from being in clinic.

The parents all got to get together and have some adult time and just watch their kids play and have fun! The nurses also commented that they loved watching us play in clinic, thank you!’’ Gina, Paediatric Physiotherapist, Acute Child Health Physiotherapy.
