It’s National Children's Gardening Week so it seems the perfect time to talk about Lee Connelly - the Skinny Jeans Gardener from CBBC’s Blue Peter– and his visit to ROYAL SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF DERBY. With help from Sipcam Home & Garden he helped pupils sow wildflower seeds to take home, as part of his mission to inspire 10,000 children across the UK to get growing.

But while Less was there to inspire, he found himself equally inspired by the school and its pupils. “I really want to learn BSL, and when I next come back, I want you to test me!” he told pupils.

Huge thanks to Lee for bringing his energy and green-thumbed magic and for reminding us all that gardening can grow more than just flowers. 🌱💚

The semi-finals of last night has sorted the runners and riders for tomorrow's Grand Final - including 's controversial (but unforgettable) entry one of the stand-out acts.

It's sparked a debate here in the Penguin PR office, but only because Eurovision divides opinion between those who are a fan (Simon) and Eurosceptics like Sarah who thinks it's lost its way.

So we asked them to state their case in this week's Penguin PR blog, which you can read here - https://bit.ly/4mdrdOd

But what do you think?

It's Eurovision on Saturday and after years of bickering about whether it's just a load of old nonsense (Sarah's take on it) or a pan-European celebration of togetherness (Simon), we've got them to set out their stalls in this week's blog.

But what do you think? Is it too big, too ludicrous and too political, or is it just a bit of fun and a chance to feel we're part of Europe (even if we do always finish last....)

The Eurovision Song Contest has divided our writers, thanks to its annual mix of dodgy songs, nul points for the UK and the political voting.

Proud to be working with the Baton of Hope, the UK's largest su***de prevention initiative, which is coming to Derby for the first time this year.

The Songs of Hope concert will see TV's 'singing fireman' Andy Quinn perform at Landau Forte College on May 16, helping raise vital funds for the event.

For our story on the moving reasons why Claire Goring is bringing the Baton of Hope to Derby in September, see our story in the comments.

Please do share if you know of anyone who would love a night of great music!

Across Derby’s streets, the green cast iron transformer box with its gold stag is more than just a relic of the past, it holds deep, emotional significance for the deaf community. Once a place where parents anxiously awaited glimpses of their children at the Royal School for the Deaf, it is now a symbol of the city’s rich, yet often overlooked, deaf heritage. Let’s ensure that this legacy lives on by embracing British Sign Language and creating a more inclusive, bilingual Derby. Start learning, make a difference, and help bridge the gap one sign at a time.

Derby is a city with a large deaf community and it's time we all honour its history and boost inclusivity by signing up to learn BSL.

Due to an urgent need to consume unreasonable amounts of chocolate and perfect our synchronized waddling, Penguin PR is officially taking a short break for Easter!
We’ll still be checking our phones and email in case of crisis comms, but otherwise if it’s not covered in foil and made of 70% cocoa, it can probably wait.
Have a great Easter break all and remember - penguins don’t lay chocolate eggs, but we really wish we did.
