Zipcar in Lambeth

Zipcar have announced their car club business will close in London by the end of this December.

Car clubs have become an important part of daily life for many Lambeth residents and businesses.

Lambeth Council is talking with alternative car-share operators and aiming for an ongoing service in the new year. The intention is for any transition to a new company to be as smooth as possible with minimal disruption to club members.

Road works close the road by West Norwood station

The burst main on Knights Hill means the one way section between Ernest Avenue and Norwood Road has to be closed to allow Thames Water to do the repairs

Northbound buses to Tulse Hill will be diverted south to Streatham Common and Leigham Court Road to Strearham Hill

The job ref is 1043 712 and it may take a few days to fix.

Road leak opposite cemetery entrance

Great to see have started work today 21st Nov on the emergency leak outside West Norwood cemetery . The leak has stopped but a deep hole remains in the road, Thames Water are due to finish works by 27th Nov.

Traffic is down to single lanes on Knights Hill and Norwood Road by the Robson Road junction so there might be congestion at busy times.

Still time to have a say on a new express bus route

The deadline for commenting on the new SuperLoop 15 bus route is Sunday 30th Nov. For us locally it would creates a new fast bus to Streatham and to West Dulwich from Tulse Hill. And for trips to Clapham or Eltham

Leigham Vale road closure this week

Emergency gas works mean have to close Leigham Vale by its junction with Norwood Road SE27 9AU for most of this week.

Traffic is diverted by Probyn Road SW2 & Palace Road SW2 or by York Hill SE27 & Knollys Road SW16

The Tulse Hill station bus stop G - southbound - is closed too.

Remembrance Sunday events 9/11/25

Our local event to mark Remembance Sunday is at Carnac Street SE27 9RS garden space at 3pm.

The event at Streatham War Memorial SW16 is at 10.45 am in the garden at the corner of Streatham Common North and Streatham High Road SW16 3HF

The African and Caribbean War Memorial event at Windrush Square SW2 1EF is at 2pm.

315 bus diversion Sunday 26th October

Thames Water will close York Hill road to traffic outside #30-40 on Sunday 26/10/25 morning 9.30am to about 1pm.

The 315 bus will have to take its usual diversion along Knights Hill-Crown Lane -Leigham Court Rd and vice versa

Norwood Park updates

The new play equipment = see picture- for Norwood Park will be installed in November - in the playground at the top of the park.

Works to complete the final phase of the Sustainable Drainage System ( SUDS) near the ball court on Elder Rd will start soon and aim to finish by the end of November. The SUDS project is funded by Thames Water who want to reduce the risk of flooding in Lambeth.

The lease on the cafe is being advertised by Avison Young.

New homes behind Auckland Hill

[STOP PRESS planning permission has been refused]

Planning application 25/02609 seeks permission, in principle, to build 6-8 homes in the backland of 55-161 Auckland Hill SE27 9PG.

A small public park is included in the plan - see diagram below.

The development would have no vehicle access due to the site's narrow entrance.

Cllr Christine Banton visited the, now overgrown, site with the architect to discuss safety, access, bin collection, emergency services & maintenance.
