After much deliberation and discussion we at ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™ข ๐™Ž๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™›๐™ž๐™ง๐™š, have decided that all good things must come to an end. Therefore, we formally announce that Sound Of Spitfire will cease broadcasting from 2200hrs UK BST on Saturday 26 July 2025.

The decision has not been made lightly and there are a multitude of sensible reasons to cease.

We would like to thank all of you that have supported SoundofSpitfire during the last few years and hope that you have been entertained by us since we first came on air in April 2018.

We are sure that many of you will have comments/suggestions as to why we should carry on, which by all means you may post in the comments below. However, be assured that this decision is final and will not be reversed.

Our final day, 26 July 2025, will be full of back-to-back live shows from Colin, Martin, Mike & Chris and we hope that youโ€™ll join us to give SoundofSpitfire the send off it deserves.

Sound Of Spitfire - The Journey

This is the official Facebook home of Sound Of Spitfire - #TheStationYouAllDeserve. Spitfire Radio originally served Southampton, Christchurch and The New Forest. In December 2017 the station closed. In January 2018 the station ownership was transferred and relocated to Spalding, South Lincolnshire.

Officially relaunched as Sound of Spitfire on 2 April 2018, we ceased broadcasting on 31 January 2019 to enable changes to our format and a new technical platform to be installed. After a staged return through March to May 2019 we completely changed format in June 2019 and we are currently broadcasting 7am to midnight and will continue to do so.

Our range of programmes will aim to entertain and inform. With local and national contributors providing a diverse mix of music, we ensure that there is something of interest to everyone. Although based in the South Holland area of Lincolnshire there is plenty of content that listeners from farther afield will enjoy. Weโ€™re excited to bring a mix of broadcasters from across the UK that each provide their own unique style.
