Food review: Lina Stores' first floor restaurant delivers on the promise of a brand with 80 years of history in Soho, serving simplicity, quality and flavour at a decent price.
Now open in Canary Wharf's Crossrail Place, it's a clean, green backdrop to the lead ingredients, showcased in dishes that prioritise taste above everything else.
This recently opened venue deserves to turn Wharfers' heads and the curious shall be rewarded...

East London is increasingly reaching out internationally on the cultural stage.
For example, the eighth EBRD Literature Prize was recently presented at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) offices in Canary Wharf.
Showcasing fiction from the territories the bank operates in which have been published in English translation – the 2025 award saw three novels revealed as finalists, with Sons, Daughters by Ivana Bodrožić, translated from the Croatian by Ellen Elias-Bursac, named the winner.
In recognition of the vital role played by both author and translator in the process, the EBRD splits the €20,000 prize fund equally between both parties.
You can find out more via Wharf Life's interview with Ivana and Ellen here:

Mudchute Park & Farm is one of Europe's largest urban farms – one of east London's gems.
Free at the point of delivery, it attracts more than 250,000 visitors a year including 10,000 school children.
It's educational and it's fun. It's a resource that's served generations of east Londoners and it wants to keep doing that.
However, the Mudchute Association, which manages the 32 acres on which it sits is currently hobbled.
The charity's lease expired in 2024, making it impossible to apply for grants to expand and improve facilities.
Negotiations with the landlord, Tower Hamlets Council, have been ongoing since 2019 but without satisfactory resolution.
The council has even proposed charging the charity rent for the site, something it hasn't previously had to pay in the 50 years since it was founded.
The Mudchute Association wants an agreement of 30 years to give it the security it needs to grow and thrive.
It's also hopeful of an amicable resolution, but is prepared to go to court to try and secure as long a lease as possible, having started a crowdfunding campaign to support legal costs.
You can find out more here via Wharf Life interview with Sue Mortimer, chair of the Mudchute Association:

Brother Marcus' Canary Wharf branch is superb.
The staff are fun, the atmosphere is light and the food is gorgeous.
But better than that, it tastes like a holiday.
At Wharf Life we're constantly in pursuit of value and the option to let staff load the table for £42pp is a corker.
Located on the lower level of Quadrant's YY London building in Reuters Plaza, it's well worth a visit.

Every now and then you see a show you just need to tell other people about.
Lovestuck Theatre Royal Stratford East from My Dad Wrote A P***o stars James Cooper and Jamie Morton is a belter of a comedy musical.
Based on a true story involving a date, a window and a turd that wouldn't flush, it's a meditation on love and self-worth delivered with remarkable polish.
Running until July 12, 2025, you can find out more via my review for Wharf Life here (warning contains spoilers):
