Sad news from Flag Fen.

Emergency appeal: Iron Age Roundhouse destroyed by fire.
On Sunday night (13 July), vandals set fire to our Iron Age roundhouse, but despite the fire brigadeโ€™s efforts, the roundhouse has been almost completely destroyed. ๐Ÿ’”

Built in 2022, the roundhouse has been a key educational and visitor space, allowing over 10,000 school children each year to experience life 2,500 years ago. Its loss is heartbreaking - we urgently seek help to rebuild.

This Thursday evening, 10th July, we welcome Dr Susan Kilby to Rutland County Museum. Her talk is - โ€˜Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: an Extraordinary Ordinary Landscapeโ€™.

Dr Kilby will treat us to an exploration of the natural and supernatural worlds depicted in the Romanesque capitals of St Kyneburghaโ€™s Church โ€“ tales of medieval monsters aboundโ€ฆ

Talk starts at 7:30pm. All welcome. Admission Free.

Sleaford Cricket Club for hosting us

Our Year 5&6 cricket team rounded off the school season with a highly commendable 4th place finish at the regional finals at Sleaford Cricket Club.

The top teams from Leicestershire & Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire battled it out to be crowned East Midland champions. One win and one loss in the group stage with a superior run rate meant the team qualified for the semi-finals. A 7-run loss in the semi-final and a 2-run defeat in the 3rd/4th place play-off secured the fourth position overallโ€ฆ and some pretty handy-looking bucket hats!

We are so proud of our cricketers for all of their success this year. It has been such a joy to be a part of.

A huge thank you must also go to our families who made the trip to Sleaford; your is and always will be so appreciated.
