A new Emily Barr book is always a treat.
This one is a YA true-crime murder-mystery with a romantic twist.
Cat has the chance to spend the summer on the French Riviera with some rich family friends. They don't seem to have a care in the world.
Henry is different though, more interesting.
But he has secrets. Strange circumstances surround the death of his mum a few years earlier - and when he invites Cat to his eerie French countryside mansion for a few days, she thinks she could help him get to the bottom of things by doing some digging into past crimes.

Recognise the names? It's a retelling of Northanger Abbey with added murders!

There's an interesting selection of books on this list.
It may give you some inspiration but by no means is definitive.

One of the books is Shirley Hazzard's The transit of Venus a wonderful, epic love story, set in post-war England as two sisters come from Australia to seek their fortunes.
We don't have it any longer but the usefulness of the list means that we have re-ordered several classics that really ought to be on the catalogue.
