Ynys Llandwyn 🩵
The home of St Dwynwen :

St Dwynwen was 5th-century Welsh princess who fell in love with Maelon, but their love was prevented. Heartbroken, Dwynwen became a nun and prayed that other lovers could find happiness. She is therefore remembered as the Welsh patron saint of lovers, celebrated on 25 January (the Welsh equivalent to Valentines day).

Ynys Llanddwyn is traditionally said to be where Dwynwen lived as a nun and founded a religious community. The island’s name means “Dwynwen’s Island”, and the ruins of her church and holy well can still be seen there. That is why Llanddwyn has become strongly associated with love, romance and St Dwynwen.

Be sure to put it on your list when visiting North Wales / Anglesey 👏🏼

Another one of North Wales’ (not best kept) secrets ✨

Aberfalls (Rhaedr Fawr) is located just outside the village of Abergwyngregyn and falls at 120 feet 💦

The waterfall can be reached following the hike I’ve decribed here or by a short path straight from the car park, which makes it easily accessible for everyone 🫶🏼
