This Thursday at 6:30 PM, the focus of the class is on building meditation into a sustainable daily habit. The session is part of Julyโ€™s theme: โ€œMaking Meditation a Healthy Habitโ€, and is designed to help you integrate meditation into everyday life in a simple, realistic, and rewarding way.

Youโ€™ll begin with a 3-minute gentle seated stretch to release tension, improve posture, and calm the mind. This physical preparation supports the deeper work of meditation by grounding the body and inviting a sense of ease. From there, the session will explore why forming a habit of meditation matters, not just for relaxation, but for cultivating mental clarity, emotional resilience, and deeper self-awareness.

Practical strategies for habit-building will be shared, such as starting small (even just two minutes a day), using the RPM method (Rise, P*e, Meditate), and leveraging tools like meditation timers and apps. Youโ€™ll also be introduced to the Qi Clock, a traditional Chinese Medicine concept that maps the bodyโ€™s energy rhythms and can be used to align your meditation practice with your natural flow.

Two key practices will be explored: the 7-Point Meditation Posture, a foundational body-based method for supporting deep awareness, and "Naming a Thought", a technique from Burmese mindfulness traditions that helps bring clarity to mental activity by gently labeling thoughts in time with the breath. The class will end with group sharing and a personal challenge, encouraging each participant to make a verbal commitment to their practice for the week ahead.

In the modern world, weโ€™re constantly connected, yet chronically distracted. We wake up, scroll, rush, and repeat. Most of us live our days on autopilot, bound to routines and reactions we didnโ€™t consciously choose. According to neuroscience, up to 95% of our thoughts and behaviours are automatic, driven by subconscious programmes rooted in the past.

This is the narrow focus of survival mode. Stress narrows our attention. We become obsessed with our bodies, our problems, our time. We fixate. We try to control everything. We get stuck in a loop of the known, past experiences, old emotions, repetitive habits, while longing for change but feeling powerless to create it.
