It's very sad to hear about legendary artist David Hockney passing yesterday.

We got to know his work through an art exhibition that we promoted at The Lost & Found Knutsford during our time working with Collect Art, producing the marketing materials and pushing the event on social media.

His work inspired generations of artists and his impact on the art world will continue to be felt for many years to come we're sure.

Sharing this so others don't make the same mistake.... 👇
I spoke to someone yesterday who had been advised by a social media agency to buy followers on Instagram - "I've been told I need more followers for my brand to be taken seriously".

A reputable social media agency should not be telling a business owner who is putting their heart, money and soul into their business to pay for fake, inactive 'followers', that will do nothing for their brand and can actually damage credibility.

❌ Paid followers ruin the ability to measure true engagement and performance, as well as negatively affect the Instagram algorithm.

The algorithm measures your success based on how many followers interact with your content. So when you buy followers, they do not interact - they are fake bots/accounts set up to follow and only follow. This can prevent your posts from reaching the 'explore page' or the feeds of real audiences you want to get in front of.

It's always easy to spot anyone who has paid for followers when you see a disproportionate lack of engagement compared to the number of followers.

We have done a lot of work with brands over the last couple of years, filtering out bots on accounts and building real online communities that genuinely care for and feel connected to the brand. It takes a lot of time and patience, but those real followers are the ones that bring sales, not bots that are bought for vanity reasons.

It really frustrates me to hear how agencies are still advising this. It shows a complete misunderstanding of how social media actually works to drive organic growth, targeting authentic communities and bringing real results.

It is unfair to the business owners who put their trust in people who are supposed to be experts in the industry.

We spoke to lots of new people we hadn't met before and even got our caricatures done by the very talented Clive's Caricatures.

Today, I was invited onto the fabulous Warrington Scoop podcast to talk about women's football, Warrington Town Women FC and Core Social Agency 🎙️

I've known Mike, who runs the Warrington Scoop, since primary school. 📍If you live in Warrington and don't already follow him, do it now! Some of the historical facts he shares about our town are fascinating.

His recent post about the 'Warrington Board Game' is so clever - And he keeps everyone up to date with what's going on in Warrington with his weekly email.

It was also a pleasure meeting and chatting with Charles, who owns the podcast production company, Vibrant Sound Media, working from Outset Workspaces. I could have talked to him all day about football! ⚽

What we’ve been up to in February…👇
Wow what a busy month it’s been so far!

Although it’s only a few days less than January, does anyone else feel as though February is flying by?

It’s been an amazing month:
🟢 Onboarding 3 new fabulous clients across food retail, fashion and sport.

🟢 For the first time ever, we had all five of us together at Core Social HQ.

🟢 We’ve signed up for some exciting exhibitions this year with Sue Richards KCC Networking and Business Events and Cheshire Business Exhibitions LTD and are looking forward to making lots of new connections.

🟢 Helen wrote an article for the Spiky Carrot ‘Carrot Club’ magazine which went down well.

🟢 One of our client posts caught the attention of LadBible, which is insane and led to an interview with the founder!

🟢 And we’re just waiting for some Core Social branded high-viz jackets to arrive because next week we’ll be capturing the on-water test day for one of our clients as they prepare for a world record attempt this May.

With ITV Granada Reports covering the day, we’re making sure we maximise the opportunity for some well-earned brand visibility!

We wonder what next month will bring 👀

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Lacey from Macclesfield College who joined us for a day of work experience.

Lacey got stuck into a social media brainstorming session, helping with ideas on strategies for each client.

We even treated her (and ourselves) to a Friend's Happy meal - admittedly just for the figures!

Alt text is definitely one fundamental that most businesses overlook when posting images on social media 👀

Originally used for accessibility purposes, alt text is now a tool that can be beneficial when it comes to your posts being discovered.

Yes, Google can bring up your posts when they're relevant to a search - and alt text helps give that content clearer context.

It can also help tell platform algorithms what your content (and your business) is about.

It might seem like a boring task, but it's 100% worth it!

✨ You can add alt text to your images when posting, via ‘edit alt text’, ‘advanced settings’ or ‘more options’.
