In 2019, we had a REALLY big premiere screening of our last movie, Invasion Planet Earth (at the time, it was still called, Kaleidoscope Man). This was a huge moment for me personally, as getting here had taken over 20 years of massive rejection and failure.
Of course, there had been a lot of successes along the way too, but with the spectacular failure of my company and the loss of family members and friends, it proved to be much more than just making a film, it was a turning point in my life. It showed me that dreams are not something that just pop along. You have to work for them., and I'm not just talking 9to5 work, I mean real labour, 24 hours a day sometimes, never giving up, always believing in yourself, ignoring the doubters and always pushing ahead, whatever the circumstances.
Along this often painful road, amazing things happened though. I made new, incredible friends, I discovered that people you know and don't know, also have their dreams and will often bend over backwards to help you and support you. The generosity of some of those people still blows my mind. Chasing this dream gave me some incredible adventures, anecdotes that I can now share with a true sense of wisdom and joy.
The biggest lesson I think I leant was that when you really go for your dream, you make hope possible for others. This might sound a little corny, but I have seen it for myself. A lot of the people who helped me have now gone off and done their own thing, followed their own dreams.
As you probably know, I have been crowdfunding to finish our new sci-fi film which have been doing for the last few years. Thank you to everyone who has backed me in whatever way you have. I hope it has and will still inspire you in some small way to follow your own hearts and do your thing. The world needs more dreamers and hopers right now - so GO FOR IT!
Big love to you all.
